Cumin Seeds - Sortex

Cumin is a spice that comes from the Cuminum cyminum plant. Cumin seeds (known as Jeera in India) are the seeds of the caraway family. It is native to Asia, Africa, and Europe, however it is used around the world to flavour meals. 
 
Cumin has a distinctive, slightly bitter yet warm flavour and can be used as whole dried seeds or as ground powder. It is well known for its medicinal properties in India and many other Asian countries. 
 
The cumin seed is uniformly elliptical and deeply furrowed.
